Judy Shields, M.S.Ed.,LPCC, CDCA is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant, and a Certified Facilitator of SMART Recovery, a program for individuals experiencing any form of addiction. Judy earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling at Youngstown State University and is a Professional Clinical Community Counselor. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and Ohio Counseling Association. She is also certified in CPR/First Aid and AED.
After graduation, she began a career as a High School Guidance Counselor. As a guidance counselor, in addition to career services, she initiated a PANDA (Prevent and Neutralize Drugs and Alcohol Abuse) program at the school.
After working in school counseling, she began a second career as a community counselor at Allied Behavioral Health. She specializes in treating addiction and substance abuse issues, trauma, anxiety, stress, behavioral and relationship problems. She utilizes a client-centered, solution-focused and strengths based approach centered in Mindfulness and Motivational Therapy. She is certified as a Facilitator of SMART Recovery, an addiction recovery program for clients who seek to regain sobriety or find an alternative solution to a 12 step program. Her specialty is Mindfulness and its applications to joy, recovery, stress, and anxiety in everyday life. She is dedicated to helping others reclaim happiness and peace in their life and empowering them to shed all negative forces and barriers. She believes that each individual has the ability and power to initiate change by learning how to recognize possibilities, utilize appropriate resources, and believe in their own potential.
She works with adults in mental health, addiction, trauma, and grief counseling in both individual and group settings.
